Artistic group „Figiel ” was created in 2001 as a theater - therapy field for the participants of Occupational Therapy Workshops in Janowica, which is leaded by the POLISH ASSOCIATION FOR PERSONS WITH MENTAL HANDICAP, branch in ŁĘCZNA.
The group consists of 12 people with intelectual and phisical disabilities. Since 2001 the group has prepared several plays and dances:
2007 Selection of folk dances from Sweden and Ukraine – with co-operation of A. Bielak
2006 The Lilies - ballad on the basis of A. Mickiewicz's – with co-operation of A. Bielak
2005 The Glove - on the basis of F.Schiller's poem – in co-operation of T. Bernecki
2004 Prometheus - in co-operation of T. Bernecki
2003 The Butterfly - in co-operation of I. Zakrzewska
2002 The Fiddler on the Roof - on the basis of J. Stein's book - in co-operation of I. Zakrzewska
The Artistic Group Figiel has been awarded on many Festivals in Poland:
IInd prize on IInd Festival of Christian’s Culture in Zakopane – 2007,
Grand Prix on XIVth National Festival of Song, Theater and Art in Łęczna – 2006
2003 - second prize on Polish Festival of Music,Theater and Plastic Arts in Łęczna, 2005 second prize on Albertiana in Kraków,
2006 first prize on Polish Festival of Music,Theater and Plastic Arts in Łęczna,
The group has also taken part in International Festival in Tczew "Wonderful Theaters' Meeting" - 2005, 2006, 2007, Albertiana in Kraków, 2006 "Nieprzetarty Szlak" - Lviv. One of the biggest succes of the group was participation in the IIIrd Festival of the Disabled’s Theaters in Tehran – Iran 2007.
All the members of Figiel like to travel and meet new people, visit interesting places and they look forward to receiving this special, unique contact with the audience.
